The Indian Embassy in Tehran sent out a strong warning on January 14, 2026. They said the situation in Iran is getting worse and people should leave as soon as they can using flights or any other transport.

What should Indian citizens in Iran do?

  1. Leave Iran now using any available flights.
  2. Avoid all protests and crowded places.
  3. Keep your passport and ID with you at all times.
  4. Contact the Indian Embassy if you need help.

Why is this happening?

The Indian government is worried about safety in Iran. When countries ask their people to leave like this, it usually means they think there could be serious trouble soon. This could be because of political problems, protests, or possible conflict in the region.

This is not the first warning. India also sent an advisory over a year ago in January 2025. The new warning is more urgent and tells people to act now.
